Whakatāne District Council starts its HR journey with Jemini

Whakatāne District Council has 350 employees, and serves communities throughout the Whakatāne District including Whakatāne, Ōhope, Tāneatua, Edgecumbe, Matatā, and Murupara.

As far back as 2013, the Council acknowledged it could improve its HRIS (Human Resources Information System). A decision was almost made in 2019, and then COVID-19 hit.  So, staff had to put the project on hold until 2020. Then, despite being close to choosing another HR system, the Council took notice of some impressive feedback from Kaipara District Council and paused to consider Jemini’s integrated HR and Payroll platform as an option.

The decision was unanimous, and Jemini was selected as the way forward for the Council. And now the ink is dry on the deal, Jemini will become the Council’s central system for all things HR.  There were three key processes Whakatāne District Council was looking for – 1. a clear process, 2. a modern solution and 3. meet budget expectations.  Jemini delivered.

The Whakatāne District Council’s journey will kick off this month (May 2021) with a Jemini Discovery and Advisory (DnA). DnA is a human-centric consultancy service from Fusion5, which studies people in their own environment through participant observation and face-to-face interviewing. It will provide the Council with an in-depth understanding of its current state and advise how to create an improved future state. The DnA will additionally document the positive short and long-term benefits, and report on the Council’s measurable return on investment.

Once the DnA is complete, the Jemini team will spend the following 18 months rolling out the platform’s Position Management, Organisational Structure, Performance, Aspirations, Learning, Onboarding, Offboarding, Surveys/Feedback, and Recruitment modules.

Jemini will spearhead an exciting and much-anticipated transformation of the Council’s ability to support, engage and manage its people.
